Altered Soil paintings were sponsored in part by a grant from the John K. & Thirza F. Davenport Foundation. This piece was featured in an international group exhibition at art #54 Soho, NY. Altered Soil was well-received and well-reviewed in the Manhattan Arts magazine; To quote Thomas Lawrence critic, "Ruggiero paints with the bits of styrofoam, plastic and rope, creating a compelling and unique experience for the viewer."
I was awarded a month long residency as an artist-in-residence at the Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor Maine post completion of the Altered Soil Painting.
